TES illuminates the AYOP network with membership

We’re happy to shine a spotlight on another new member. This time, we speak with Frank Sneekes of TES (Total Energy Solutions). Originally, TES worked across all areas of energy, but for more than 20 years the company has specialized in lighting. Frank: “We are a one-stop shop for lighting. We advise, supply, and install.” The specialist does this for a wide variety of clients and spaces, such as sports halls, offices, warehouses, and industrial buildings. TES also offers certified ship lighting.

An independent lighting specialist

Owner Frank Sneekes explains how they work: “We are an independent lighting specialist. We don’t have our own products or stock. Every client has different needs, and this allows us to respond effectively. We always start by sitting down with the client to determine what they want. We discuss how much light is needed, the desired quality, and the budget. Often, we quickly know what to propose, but sometimes we present several options so the client has a choice. There’s an enormous difference in quality when it comes to lighting—ranging from ‘as cheap as possible’ to ‘the Rolls-Royce of lighting.’ Since we’ve been around for a while, I can now buy directly from factories. That way, I can help customers in the best possible way at the best price.”

Certified lighting for the offshore sector

The offshore energy sector is a very interesting market for TES. Frank: “It’s an underexposed market: currently, there are few suppliers, but demand is increasing. Ships often use explosion-proof lighting. These are great products. We can supply high-quality, European-certified ATEX lighting. Once again, thanks to our strong supplier relationships, we can offer this lighting at very competitive prices.”

TES also takes on other maritime projects: “We also install tube lighting on ships, for example, we’re currently running a project for Van Laar. In addition, we supply lighting in Seaport Marina, Royal Van Lent Shipyard, and we installed the lighting in Waterland Terminal. The latter is one of the few covered unloading facilities in the Netherlands, with a height of 35 meters. That height is definitely a challenge, but it doesn’t stop us from delivering the best results,” says Frank.

Learning from competition

Although there aren’t many players in the offshore sector yet, competition in other industries is often stronger, Frank explains: “But I also learn from that competition. If another supplier submits a much more favorable quote to a client, I look into how that’s possible. I stand by the products we deliver and their quality, but if I can offer the same quality at a lower price, of course I will. That’s also the advantage of being independent: you can adapt and adjust your offers to the market.”

Lighting for AYOP members

Frank decided TES should join AYOP thanks to a tip from a contact: “We came across AYOP after TMA Logistics recommended it as a good association for the offshore sector. We hope to build many new relationships and would love to provide lighting for more AYOP members!”
