N-Sea strengthens AYOP network with subsea expertise

New AYOP member N-Sea provides integrated total solutions for subsea infrastructure and assets for the offshore energy sector. N-Sea provides comprehensive solutions for subsea infrastructure and assets in the offshore energy sector. They cover everything involved, including surveys, UXO detection and removal, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM), construction and decommissioning, and data management. Jasper Joosse shares insights on leading projects, the significance of their new facility in IJmuiden, and why N-Sea joined AYOP.

Major Projects with Leading Companies

N-Sea originated from a shipping company founded in 1932. Since the 1980s, they have primarily focused on the subsea market. Jasper Joosse, Manager of the Support Base in IJmuiden, discusses a key project commissioned by RWE for the Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone: “Initially, we were tasked with conducting geophysical and geotechnical surveys. We mapped the seabed and carried out a UXO (unexploded ordnance) survey along the cable routes. Following further laboratory analysis, we also removed part of the detected materials from the route. It’s great to collaborate with major industry players and contribute to the development of these crucial wind farms!”

While other parties handled the cable system installation in the Norfolk project, N-Sea also offers this service. Jasper highlights a project where they completely replaced an inter-array cable system: “In this project, we were the main contractor, removing the existing system and installing a new one. We managed the entire process—from research and engineering to execution and a final as-built survey.”

The New IJmuiden Office: A Flagship for N-Sea

Soon N-Sea will open a new location near the IJmondhaven. Jasper explains: “We already have two smaller locations in IJmuiden. Thanks to Zeehaven IJmuiden, we had the opportunity to develop a large site covering 10,000 m², including yards, halls, and offices. From our new Operations Support Base, we will support all vessels and projects in terms of maintenance, logistics, and storage. It serves as the link between offshore work and our headquarters in Dordrecht.”

Collaboration in the Supply Chain for the Energy Transition

With this new flagship facility in IJmuiden, joining AYOP was a logical step. “Many of our clients and suppliers were already AYOP members. The association has a strong network, and we hope our membership fosters more regional collaboration,” says Jasper. “Government ambitions provide many opportunities to make the sector greener, cleaner, and more efficient. Ensuring the energy transition moves forward is a collective responsibility—an exciting challenge for the entire supply chain. That’s why it’s crucial to connect, collaborate, and strengthen partnerships, from suppliers to contractors.”
