From Sea Survival to High Voltage Training: new AYOP-member RelyOn offers it all

We are pleased to present a new AYOP member. RelyOn provides training for various sectors, including the oil and gas industry, the wind industry and the maritime industry. They operate primarily from their training centers at Amsterdam’s NDSM wharf and Rotterdam. Spread across the country, RelyOn has four other branches where they offer different trainings. For example, from their location in Den Helder, they offer low and high voltage training and explosion safety courses.

From Sea Survival to high voltage training courses

Miranda te Boekhorst, Account Manager Renewables, tells us more about the world of RelyOn: “Our training center in Amsterdam is unique in many ways. In our training center, working at heights is actually working as high as 18 meters! At that height, an evacuation exercise takes on a whole new dimension. In addition, we have two swimming pools at our disposal, allowing us to simultaneously conduct, for example, a Helicopter Underwater Escape Training and a GWO Sea Survival Training. This ensures maximum flexibility. Because everything is indoors, we are not dependent on the weather. We also recently opened a branch in Den Helder, where we provide low and high voltage training. And there is more: this fall we are opening a new training center in Eemshaven, completely focused on the wind industry.”

In addition to mandatory on-the-job training in various industries, RelyOn also offers crisis management training and exercises specifically for company executives. “If something goes wrong in a workplace, the management of the affected company needs to get to work. Topics such as crisis communication, stakeholder management, business continuity, information management and the alerting process are all covered. During a crisis, action must be taken quickly, so it helps if companies have a good crisis plan. We help our clients with that too,” Miranda explains.

Innovative training through new technologies

New technologies can help achieve certain training goals. For example, RelyOn uses technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR). Miranda tells us more about this: “We are increasingly using Virtual Reality (VR) and adaptive e-learning to optimize the learning experience. Right now, we apply VR mainly within the GWO training courses, some of which can be followed entirely in VR. We also offer a digital Learning Management System (LMS) that allows customers to manage all their training, e-learning and certificates.”

New connections at AYOP New Year’s dinner

Their AYOP membership is a great way for RelyOn to expand its network and present itself. Miranda explains: “We have two training locations in the region and with most AYOP members we already had a connection in one way or another. The first AYOP event I attended was the New Year’s dinner, where I met a lot of existing connections that I also meet regularly at exhibitions and conferences. When Dionne introduced RelyOn as a new member, two other members immediately came up to me to get acquainted. That’s a great start! We are really happy we joined the network association and look forward to a great year and valuable new contacts.”
