AYOP welcomes crane expert Rusch
Rusch recently joined the Amsterdam IJmuiden Offshore Ports, bringing with it some 30 years of experience in inspecting, maintaining and repairing cranes onshore and off. The company’s knowledge, expertise and service have ensured it an excellent global reputation and Rusch has gradually expanded activities with the development of one-off special projects and acting as a dealer for various crane builders.
The Rusch Offshore division is an independent maintenance and service company for offshore cranes of all brands and types. Inspecting, maintaining, repairing and modifying the cranes used on drilling and production platforms, rigs and vessels is a routine task for the company, regardless of whether that involves repairs on site or at the head office and workshop in Medemblik. In addition to the Netherlands and North Sea, activities are carried out in locations such as Abu Dhabi, Congo, the Philippines and Kazakhstan.
Offshore is classified under the ISO system and also has a ‘good’ accreditation from FPal, an organisation established by oil companies to assess and accredit suppliers.
Inspections and certifications on site
Rusch Inspections is a division composed of EKH-certified experts involved in the inspection and certification of lifting and hoisting materials with a testing machine of 50 tonnes in a permanent setup or one of the four available five-tonne mobile units. The latter make it possible to carry out on-site tests and certifications. All testing machines are fully automated so that measuring and testing results are immediately available and certificates can be directly provided. The machines are also used in the wind energy sector for general maintenance, and the inspection of cranes and all hoisting and fall protection equipment in turbines both onshore and off.
One of three
Rusch Crane Repair is specialised in boom repairs and one of just three companies in Europe able to repair the telescopic booms of 960 and 1100 grade mobile cranes. It supports the offshore division in certified construction activities and offers machining services on site.
Dealership
Rusch has become a dealer for various renowned crane brands in recent years, including Favelle Favco (Malaysia) for specific offshore cranes, Marine Travelift (USA) for boat cranes, and Cormach (Italy) for car loading cranes. The company’s engineers provide delivery, maintenance, spare parts and technical support to these brands.
Specials for custom solutions
Rusch also develops and manufactures ‘specials’: finding solutions for crane or hoisting equipment that are yet to be developed. Examples range from special amphibious vehicles with grabs to a lifting installation in a pizza factory. The company made a name for itself In the demolition sector by building the highest (90 metres) and strongest (30-tonne crusher at 43 metres) demolition machine worldwide. In the offshore industry Rusch developed an MBT (Maintenance Bridge Tower) for a Norwegian client that gives easy access from the quay to the rig in accordance with NORSOK regulations. This is the kind of versatility that makes Rusch such a valuable partner for all matters related to lifting and hoisting.
