Online Business Call: collaboration with the Ministry of Defence

During this AYOP Business Call, we will discuss opportunities for collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. A Defence Innovation Team has recently become active in North Holland—a partnership involving Defence, government bodies (the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the Province), and the business community (Industry Sounding Board Group)—aimed at strengthening cooperation with the private sector. The session will be led by Lieutenant Commander Freek Marchal, manager of the recently opened MINDBase at the Marineterrein in Amsterdam.

It is both a Dutch ambition and a core task of the Ministry of Defence to ensure the security of North Sea infrastructure (both above and below water). Recent developments have created significant challenges in this regard. Targeted investments are therefore required to develop innovative solutions and applications, with the hope that these will largely originate from the Dutch maritime industry. Freek will outline the regional approach and discuss the innovation strategy Defence is pursuing through 2029. He will also present the ‘Maritime Uncrewed’ vision for the future.
